Ing. arch. Tomáš Hanáček, PhD.
He studied architecture in Bratislava and folklore in Nitra. He connects his architectural practice with research at the university, and currently works on assistant's position at the Institute of Urbanism and Spatial Planning FAD STU. Together with Katarína Boháčová-Fejo, runs his own vertical studio Fejo & Hanáček, devotes to innovative forms in teaching, lectures and publishes. In the field of research he focuses on the topic of Regeneration of Waterfronts and Industrial Brownfields, or the current typology of urban spaces. As a consultant for FAD STU, he participates in the participatory planning project of the city Trenčín - Trenčín is You. He is the author of conceptual planning walks with the public URBAN WALK (Trenčín - Váh embankment and Hviezdoslavova pedestrian zone, Bratislava - Kamenné square, Karloveské rameno, Bridgehead of SNP bridge, Chalupkova zone). The URBAN WALK method deals with the topic of improving walking and living in public space, the activities of the city parterre and the scenography of the city. He presented the research results in Košice, Prague, Brno, Rijeka, Vilnius, Barcelona, Toronto and Tai-pei. He co-organized the international conference PUBLIC SPACES. He is a co-founder of the studio BETWEEN architecture and urbanism, he participates in architectural competitions (Trenčín- Pedestrian zone Hviezdoslavova and City market, Nitra- residential complex Hviezdoslavova, New York- Greenwich Tower, Tallinn- Integration of self-driven cars, Toronto- Middle city Passages, Ostend- revitalization of the city beach, Dubai- Slovak Expo Pavilion, Košice- Mlynský náhon) and professional challenges (City interventions TN, NR, BA). Under the motto BVNST, he devotes his free time to dance, dramaturgy, directing and choreography.
