BARCO BRANCO

Project description
Portuguese sailors have a longstanding history of conquering the sea, and boats continue to represent their power. Despite losing its economic and social significance, boats have become a popular cultural symbol. Lavender fields are another important symbol in Portuguese culture, traditionally used for cleaning and extending the shelf life of food on boats. The White Boat or Barco Branco is a sustainable energy project, incorporating both these symbols in the building as well as the site.
