Project description
Commune Ground is a flexible, expandable centre emphasized by the use of local natural materials. It connects to the Renovation building in Chimilin through a shared design language and functional approach, rooted in production and building community bonds. The project encourages user participation in both construction and future growth, supporting adaptability, shared creativity, and a strong sense of place grounded in local culture and resources.

Matthieu Pedergnana (PhD) is an architect, a builder and a researcher specialising in natural materials and bio-climatic design. After obtaining a master's degree in sustainable architecture from ENSA Lyon and a technical degree in Civil Engineering from UCBL, he worked as a carpenter in France and a builder in several countries. During his PhD at METU, he specialised in earthen and straw construction and taught in several natural building workshops in Turkey. Since 2020, he has been teaching construction and materials courses at Yaşar University, emphasising ecological construction techniques
