Ing. arch. Katarina Fejo, PhD.

During the years devoted to her studies, the architect and urban planner Katarína Boháčová - Fejo interned in Belgium, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. She gained a doctorate degree in the areas of urbanism seven years ago. In the following period, she accepted an offer of an assistant's position at the Faculty of Architecture in Bratislava where she connects practice with academic activity. She also runs her own vertical studio Fejo & Hanáček and focuses on innovative forms in teaching, lectures and publishes. In the field of research, she focuses mainly on the "Reserach by design" method, with the help of which examines new current strategies and trends in the creation of public spaces. The connection with the international scene is also proved by the multi-year popularization of architecture in Slovakia, within which she regularly invites world-renowned architectural personalities to lecture at the Faculty of Architecture and the Slovak National Gallery. She is the founder of international conference called PUBLIC SPACES. In her practice, she regularly confronts her positions to architecture and urbanism at international competitions. She is a member of several work teams and actively participates in competitions that have won the awards: Pedestrian zone in Trenčín, Public space at the Trnava Synagogue, Expo SK pavilion Dubai, Riverfront of Váh-Trenčín is YOU, Toronto Passages, Ostend. Several of them are in the process of implementation. Together with the team of authors she received several nominations of CEZAAR, ARCH Award, Jurkovič Award for the work Park Jama. Together with the team of authors, she is the winner of the Park of the Year award in Slovakia 2019. She is a co-founder of studio BETWEEN architecture and urban design.
